ShallowGal exploits her children to fill space

From an actual conversation this week with my three year old:

When I grow up, I'm going to be a pumpkin. You can be a mermaid, Mommy. Won't that be fun?

Yeah, every kid wants to be a pumpkin when they grow up ... but, then, they actually grow up and realize that life as a pumpkin isn't all it's cracked up to be. People just want to carve you and bake you into pies. Where's the respect?

And from the other end of the spectrum: In a conversation recently with my 20 y.o. daughter, it was *me* who said "for halloween I want to be a mermaid--I *totally* have the hair for it!"

It appears I have chosen to spend the remainder of my days in the land of make believe . . .
